This was such an amazing, unique wedding! Destiny + Taylor incorporated incredible food, an intentional guest list, and the breathtaking Columbia River Gorge as their ceremony site to create a day that was intimate, fun, and just fully them.

They decided to have their ceremony at the Columbia River Gorge, but started the day off in Portland, Orgeon. They hosted their immediate family for brunch at Tusk, a Moroccan restaurant in Portland, Oregon. This is one of our favorite restaurants! The staff brought out all sorts of Moroccan pastries and smaller dishes to share. Most of the food being served we hadn’t heard of, or even seen before.  It was so amazing trying all of the new foods, and we loved them all!

Destiny and Taylor ended up being late to the party. But their philosophy was that they would arrive when they arrived, and it didn’t matter if the day started on time, because what really mattered was that everyone was together.

After brunch, we met Destiny + Taylor at the Woodlark hotel in downtown Portland, and photographed them getting ready in their room. We took a few minutes to give them our little spiel about marriage and love, which they absolutely fell in love with. They also showed us a book called Worm loves Worm. After that, all four of us instantly knew we had a connection!

We headed to the downstairs bar and did shots of whiskey together. We talked about our upcoming trip to Utah, which is Destiny + Taylor’s home state. They told us about fun things to check out while there and we had an awesome chat.

Their ceremony site was at Viento State Park in the Columbia River Gorge (which is Lynn’s favorite place in the gorge!)

The ceremony was beautiful, and afterward they had Pok Pok Noi (a famous Thai food restaurant) cater their dinner and holy sh*t balls it was amazing!! The veg option was spicy AF though, and it took me a solid 10 minutes to get my sh*t together after the first bite before I could have anymore lol. Destiny and Taylor had given all of the guests their own camp-style mugs to decorate. They attached them to lanyards for people to wear around their necks, to avoid using plastic cups while they were drinking. We decorated ours with little cameras 😀

After dinner, we headed down to the water where Destiny + Taylor had “Haruma Time”. This is a practice they do together where they sit and watch the sunset, giving thanks to the sun for providing to them. They say “Haruma” three times as they raise their hands in the air towards the sun. They loved that we were able to give them some alone time to do something special and private, away from all of the chaos of the wedding day.

After the sunset, they had their first dance and invited everyone to dance with them. Their guests surrounded them and hugged them, swaying in unison. It was super cool to see them come together as a community and be one, instead of just focusing on the newly married couple.

I felt like that was mainly what their day was about: bringing everyone together to celebrate.

After the dance party, we said bye and headed straight home, exhausted but SO happy. We are so fortunate to have met such a rad couple. Their wedding day was truly unique and we honestly could not have asked for better clients.
