Alaska Glacier Elopement
Kayla and Mark had the absolute dreamiest Knik Glacier elopement in Alaska last summer. In case you didn’t know how obsessed we are with Alaska, Michael and I eloped there ourselves in 2021. So needless to say we were stoked when they reached out about having an Alaska helicopter elopement. After spending some time getting to know the two of them and hearing their vision for their day (crystal clear blue pools and a heli tour to a remote ceremony) we knew that Knik Glacier would be the perfect place for them to say “I do.”
Knik glacier helicopter tours
We spent a very stormy (like 50 mph wind and sideways rain kinda stormy) morning with Kayla and Mark as they got ready and shared a first look at the Knik River Lodge cabins. After a moose sighting and a mildly stressful hour while we waited to hear if the weather would completely cancel our helicopter tour, we finally got the go-ahead that we were clear to fly. Our pilot took us on a breathtakingly scenic flight to a landing on Knik Glacier, and then a second landing just a nearby lake where they shared their vows.
Afterward, they cheersed with a champagne picnic before we spent some time exploring. After the return flight, we packed up and drove out to Hatcher Pass. We had hoped to catch a late-night sunset, but yet again the weather had other ideas for us. We were able to sneak in some quick bites of cake before we had to hike back down to the car. But really, we believe there’s no actual bad weather on wedding days, just an adventurous story. So Kayla and Mark shared their first dance together in front of the headlights of their rental car before we all ducked back in side our vehicles to warm up (and dry off). All in all, a very adventurous and wonderful elopement in Alaska.
